# 79 · 坐飞机

### 第1段

I used to travel by air a great deal when I was a boy. My parents used to live in South America and I used to fly there from Europe in the holidays. A flight attendant would take charge of me and I never had an unpleasant experience. I am used to travelling by air and only on one occasion have I ever felt frightened. After taking off, we were flying low over the city and slowly gaining height, when the plane suddenly turned round and flew back to the airport. While we were waiting to land, a flight attendant told us to keep calm and to get off the plane quietly as soon as it had touched down. Everybody on board was worried and we were curious to find out what had happened. Later we learnt that there was a very important person on board. The police had been told that a bomb had been planted on the plane. After we had landed, the plane was searched thoroughly. Fortunately, nothing was found and five hours later we were able to take off again.

中文理解：我小时候经常乘飞机。父母那时住在南美洲，假期我常从欧洲飞过去。空乘会照看我，从没出过什么不愉快的事。 我早已习惯了坐飞机，却有一次真的受了惊吓。 起飞后，我们低低飞过城市，正在慢慢爬升，飞机却突然掉头，飞回了机场。 等着降落时，空乘让大家保持镇静，飞机一落地，就安静地下机。机上人人担心，都急着想知道发生了什么。 后来才知道，机上有位重要人物，警方接到消息，说有人在飞机上安放了炸弹。 落地后，飞机接受了彻底搜查。幸好什么也没找到，五小时后，我们终于再次起飞。

* **take charge of**：负责照管；接管；charge在此是责任，不是收费。

* **used to travelling**：习惯旅行；这里to是介词，后用travelling；整个be used to travelling表示习惯旅行，区别used to travel过去常旅行。

* **gaining height**：逐渐升高；常用于飞机或鸟上升，height在这里不可数。

* **keep calm**：保持镇定；calm描述状态，不用calmly作补语。

* **touched down**：着陆；整体指降落地面，不是触摸下面。

* **on board**：在机上；在船上；board前不加冠词，具体交通工具由语境确定。

#### I used to travel by air a great deal when I was a boy.

复合句，主句主谓结构，后面有一个时间状语从句，为主系表结构.

#### My parents used to live in South America and I used to fly there from Europe in the holidays.

并列句，and 连接前后两句，都是主谓结构. 本文要区分两种结构：used to + 动词原形表示“过去常常”，be used to + 名词或动名词表示“习惯于”。这里 used to 通常读作 /ˈjuːst tə/，不是动词 use 的 /juːz/；连读细节可结合原音模仿。

#### A flight attendant would take charge of me and I never had an unpleasant experience.

并列句，and 连接两句，均为主谓宾结构. 一般来说take charge of 指掌管，负责，这里是自己被空姐暂时监护.

#### I am used to travelling by air and only on one occasion have I ever felt frightened.

并列句，and 连接两句，前句 I am used to travelling 中 used 表示“习惯的”，是 be used to doing 结构；后句因 only on one occasion 置于分句句首，使用部分倒装，将助动词 have 放到主语 I 前，正常语序是 I have only on one occasion ever felt frightened。

#### After taking off, we were flying low over the city and slowly gaining height, when the plane suddenly turned round and flew back to the airport.

并列复合句，主句为and 连接的并列句，前一动作 were flying 没有直接宾语，后一动作 gaining height 中 height 是宾语，不能都归为主谓结构；后面是 when 引导的时间状语从句，也是一个并列句.

#### While we were waiting to land, a flight attendant told us to keep calm and to get off the plane quietly as soon as it had touched down.

复合句，主句为主谓宾 + 宾补结构，这里宾语补足语有两个. 句首是一个while 引导的时间状语从句，为主谓宾结构，后面有一个as soon as 引导的时间状语从句，主谓结构.

#### Everybody on board was worried and we were curious to find out what had happened.

并列句，均为主系表结构，请注意，最后的 to find out what had happened 补充 curious 的具体内容，表示“急于弄清出了什么事”，不宜一律看作主句行为的目的状语，只不过该状语之中有一个what 引导的从句作find out 的宾语，我们予以额外标记.

#### Later we learnt that there was a very important person on board.

复合句，主句主谓 + that 引导的宾语从句结构，句中的very important person 就是我们常说的VIP.

#### The police had been told that a bomb had been planted on the plane.

复合句，主句主谓 + that 引导的宾语从句结构，且为被动语态，被告知，但是一般而言，报警是主动的行为，所以翻译时可以转换为主动语态，有人报警即可.

plant 此处作动词，to place sth. or yourself firmly in a particular place or position 立稳；竖立；安放. 这类小词一定一定要查字典，把名词词性的所有义项和动词词性的所有义项都彻底搞懂.

#### After we had landed, the plane was searched thoroughly.

复合句，主句主谓结构，前面是一个after 引导的时间状语从句，为主谓结构.

#### Fortunately, nothing was found and five hours later we were able to take off again.

并列句，and 连接的前后两句都是主谓结构.
