# 66 · 像蜜一样甜！

In 1963 a Lancaster bomber crashed on Wallis Island, a remote place in the South Pacific, a long way west of Samoa. The plane wasn't too badly damaged, but over the years, the crash was forgotten and the wreck remained undisturbed. Then in 1989, twenty-six years after the crash, the plane was accidentally rediscovered in an aerial survey of the island. By this time, a Lancaster bomber in reasonable condition was rare and worth rescuing. The French authorities had the plane packaged and moved in parts back to France. Now a group of enthusiasts are going to have the plane restored. It has four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, but the group will need to have only three of them rebuilt. Imagine their surprise and delight when they broke open the packing cases and found that the fourth engine was sweet as honey — still in perfect condition. A colony of bees had turned the engine into a hive and it was totally preserved in beeswax!

* **in reasonable condition**：状况还不错；condition指状态时通常不可数，不加a。

* **worth rescuing**：值得抢救或挽救；worth后用动名词，不说worth to rescue；原句说明老飞机仍有保存价值。

* **in parts**：拆成部件地；本课是拆卸运输，不是某些部分发生了什么。

* **broke open**：撬开；砸开；open说明强行打开后的状态。

* **in perfect condition**：完好无损；状态名词condition不加冠词；perfect描述保存完好。

简单句，主谓结构. 后面关于具体位置的补充成分其实并不重要，教材翻译得极为冗长，本处予以简化. 本句为一般过去时，整个故事都是在讲过去发生的一个事情.

#### The plane wasn't too badly damaged, but over the years, the crash was forgotten and the wreck remained undisturbed.

并列句，but 和and 分别连接起这三个简单句，1. 主谓结构；2. 主谓结构；3. 主系表结构.

#### Then in 1989, twenty-six years after the crash, the plane was accidentally rediscovered in an aerial survey of the island.

简单句，主谓结构，一般过去时的被动语态，被重新发现.

#### By this time, a Lancaster bomber in reasonable condition was rare and worth rescuing.

简单句，整体理解为主系表结构，worth 在这里是形容词，按照介词的用法，后面接名词、代词等，故be worth doing 中，worth 作表语，因为该词较为特殊，后面跟一个动名词作宾语.

#### The French authorities had the plane packaged and moved in parts back to France.

简单句，主谓宾 + 宾补. 这里had 是have 的过去式，是有实际意义的，不是助动词.

\[关键句型] 本课复习have 的用法，此处为使役动词，have + 名词/代词 + 过去分词，不必交待具体的动作执行人是谁，但我们知道是让别人去做的，而不是自己，比如have my hair . 就是让外人帮自己理发，不是自己剪头发.

#### Now a group of enthusiasts are going to have the plane restored.

简单句，主谓宾 + 宾补结构，am/is/are going to do 在这里是一般将来时.

#### It has four Rolls-Royce Merlin engines, but the group will need to have only three of them rebuilt.

并列句，but 连接前后两句，前句为主谓宾结构；后句也是主谓宾结构，动词不定式短语作宾语，本身也可以额外分析：to have only three of them .

#### Imagine their surprise and delight when they broke open the packing cases and found that the fourth engine was sweet as honey — still in perfect condition.

复合句，主句是祈使句，直接省略了主语，谓语 + 宾语，后面则是when 引导的时间状语从句，该从句为并列复合句，由and 连接这个时间状语从句，前句为主谓宾结构，后句为found + that 引导的宾语从句，该宾语从句是主系表结构.

并列句，前句为主谓宾结构；后句为主谓结构.
