# 23 · 新居

### 第1段

I had a letter from my sister yesterday. She lives in Nigeria. In her letter, she said that she would come to England next year. If she comes, she will get a surprise. We are now living in a beautiful new house in the country. Work on it had begun before my sister left. The house was completed five months ago. In my letter, I told her that she could stay with us. The house has many large rooms and there is a lovely garden. It is a very modern house, so it looks strange to some people. It must be the only modern house in the district.

中文理解：昨天我收到了姐姐的信。她住在尼日利亚，信里说她明年要来英国。 她要是来，一定会吃一惊。我们现在住在乡下一栋漂亮的新房子里。 姐姐离开以前，这房子就已经动工了，直到五个月前才建好。 我回信说，她可以住到我们家来。房子里有许多宽敞的房间，还有一个漂亮的花园。 这房子设计得很现代，所以有些人看着觉得奇怪。它大概是这一带唯一的现代式住宅。

* **had a letter from**：收到……的来信；本课had表示收到，from后是寄信人。

* **a surprise**：意料之外的事；惊喜；把意外的事作为整体表达；surprise 在这里是可数名词。

* **in the country**：在乡下；本课country指乡村，不是某个国家。

* **was completed**：已经完工；被完成；被动突出工程，不必说出施工者。

* **stay with us**：住在我们这里；with后接接待你的人，at后常接旅馆等地点。

* **looks strange to**：在……看来很奇怪；look作系动词，to说明谁产生这种印象。

#### I had a letter from my sister yesterday.

简单句，主谓宾结构.

#### In her letter, she said that she would come to England next year.

复合句，主句主谓 + 宾语从句结构，that 引导的宾语从句也是主谓宾结构，这里 come to 为不及物动词 + 介词构成的动词短语作谓语.

#### If she comes, she will get a surprise.

复合句，主句主谓宾结构，从句是if 引导的条件状语从句，主谓结构.

\[关键句型] 本句主句复习第12课一般将来时. 本句的if 条件句复习第16课.

#### We are now living in a beautiful new house in the country.

简单句，主谓结构.

#### Work on it had begun before my sister left.

复合句，主句主谓结构，work 在这里为名词，后面的on it 为后置定语，用来修饰 work. 从句为before 引导的时间状语从句，为主谓结构.

\[关键句型] 本句主句复习第14课过去完成时.

#### The house was completed five months ago.

简单句，主谓结构，用了一般过去时的被动语态.

\[关键句型] 本句谓语部分复习第21课的被动语态.

#### In my letter, I told her that she could stay with us.

复合句，主句主谓宾 + that 引导的宾语从句结构，stay 在这里为不及物动词.

#### The house has many large rooms and there is a lovely garden.

并列句，前句为主谓宾结构，and 后面是there be 句型. 对于there be 句型的句子成分分析，本书采用there 作为形式主语的观点，在there 下画双横线，而后面a garden 是真正的主语，也画双横线. 实际学习中，知道这是表存在的there be 句型即可.

#### It is a very modern house, so it looks strange to some people.

并列句，均为主系表结构.

#### It must be the only modern house in the district.

简单句，主系表结构，only 在这里跟modern 一起均为形容词作定语.
