# 03 · 请给我寄一张明信片

Postcards always spoil my holidays. Last summer, I went to Italy. I visited museums and sat in public gardens. A friendly waiter taught me a few words of Italian. Then he lent me a book. I read a few lines, but I did not understand a word. Everyday I thought about postcards. My holidays passed quickly, but I did not send cards to my friends. On the last day I made a big decision. I got up early and bought thirty-seven cards. I spent the whole day in my room, but I did not write a single card!

中文理解：明信片总会搅乱我的假期。去年夏天，我去了意大利，参观博物馆，也在公园里坐坐。 一位热心的服务员教了我几句意大利语，又借给我一本书。我读了几行，却一个字也没看懂。 我每天都惦记着寄明信片。假期过得很快，可我一张也没给朋友寄出去。 到了最后一天，我终于下了个大决心：一早起来，买了三十七张明信片。 我在房间里待了一整天，结果连一张都没写！

* **a few words**：几句话；几个词；a few表示有一些；few不带a常强调几乎没有。

* **lent me a book**：借给我一本书；lend的过去式是lent；借入用borrow。

* **thought about**：思考过；考虑过；表示思考某事；过去式 thought about，后面说明在想什么。

* **made a big decision**：作出重大决定；决定用make，不用do；big强调影响大。

* **the whole day**：一整天；whole前保留the；可与all day比较记忆。

* **a single card**：哪怕一张卡片；原句在否定范围内，single强调一张也没有。

#### Postcards always spoil my holidays.

简单句，主谓宾结构.

#### Last summer, I went to Italy.

简单句，主谓结构.

#### I visited museums and sat in public gardens.

并列句，and 连接两个简单句，后一句省略了主语I.

\[关键句型] 学习一般过去时，这是表达过去发生的事情最常用的时态，其表达为动词转为过去式. 具体构成为was/were；did. 本句中visit 转为visited，而sit 转为sat.

#### A friendly waiter taught me a few words of Italian.

简单句，主谓宾结构，me 为间接宾语，words 为直接宾语.

\[关键句型] 一般过去时，本句的teach 转为taught，该词为不规则变化，请牢记 teach-taught-taught.

#### Then he lent me a book.

简单句，结构同上句，也是双宾语. lent sb. sth.，这里sth.是直接宾语Od，相当于书籍是借这个动作的直接承受方，而借给我这个人sb.是间接宾语Oi. 本句可以修改为 lent a book to me，这样就可以更清楚地看出，书籍a book 才是直接宾语.

这里lend 是行为人借出去，而borrow 是行为人借进来，注意区分. 因为一般过去时，所以lend 转为lent.

#### I read a few lines, but I did not understand a word.

并列句，均为主谓宾结构.

\[关键句型] read 的过去式和过去分词均一致，但读音不同，read/riːd/-read/red/-read/red/，很明显，这里是选了中间的过去式，后一句understand 是否定表达，需要通过do 转为did，再加上not 来表示一般过去时的否定形式.

#### Everyday I thought about postcards.

简单句，主谓宾结构，动词短语think about 作谓语，think 的过去式为thought，需要专门记住.

#### My holidays passed quickly, but I did not send cards to my friends.

并列句，but 前是主谓结构 My holidays passed，后是主谓宾结构 I did not send cards。 but 后句为一般过去时的否定表达.

#### On the last day I made a big decision.

简单句，主谓宾结构，有个短语做决定，make a decision 需要积累. make 转为made 即为一般过去时.

#### I got up early and bought thirty-seven cards.

并列句，主谓宾结构. get 转为got；buy 转为bought，均为一般过去时. get-got-got（英式常用形式），美式也常用 gotten 作过去分词； buy-bought-bought.

#### I spent the whole day in my room, but I did not write a single card!

并列句，but 连接，两句均为主谓宾结构. 这里whole 和single 都是用作强调. spend-spent-spent；write-wrote/rəʊt/-written/ˈrɪtn/.
