> Some people believe that studying at university or college is the best route to a successful career, while others believe that it is better to get a job straight after school. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Upon finishing school, young people often face the difficult decision of whether to pursue higher education or enter the workforce directly. While there are valid arguments in favor of starting a career immediately, I believe that attending university or college provides a more reliable path to long-term professional success.

There are several advantages to entering the job market straight after school. One of the primary motivations is financial independence. Many young people are eager to start earning money as soon as possible, which allows them to support themselves and potentially contribute to their families. Additionally, gaining hands-on work experience at an early age can help individuals develop practical skills and expertise in a specific field. This experience may lead to faster career progression, as they are able to build a professional network and earn promotions over time.

However, I contend that pursuing further education is ultimately a better choice for most students. First and foremost, many careers require specific academic qualifications, such as those in medicine, law, or education. Without a university degree, it is nearly impossible to enter these professions, and this restriction can limit future job opportunities. Furthermore, university graduates tend to have access to a wider range of job openings, often with higher salaries and better benefits compared to those with only a high school diploma. In addition, the modern job market is highly competitive, and a degree can serve as a key differentiator when vying for positions in top companies.

In conclusion, while starting work immediately may seem appealing for its financial rewards and early career experience, I believe that attending university or college is the more advantageous option in the long run.

* **enter the workforce**：进入职场；enter the workforce，比 enter into work force 更自然。

* **financial independence**：经济独立；achieve financial independence，income 并非 independence 的替换词。

* **hands-on work experience**：实际工作经验；gain hands-on work experience，experience 通常不可数。

* **career progression**：职业发展；support career progression，写发展路径。

* **academic qualifications**：学历或专业资格；require academic qualifications，跨话题重复学习。

  Further training can broaden career options.

  Students can gain practical experience through internships.

  Applicants need to meet entry requirements for regulated professions.

* **用 upon + -ing 简洁交代时间起点**：upon finishing 相当于 after finishing；逻辑上的毕业者与主句 young people 一致。

Upon finishing school, young people often face the difficult decision of whether to pursue higher education or enter the workforce directly.

Upon completing the course, learners can apply the skills in small projects.

* **用 which 解释收入怎样产生益处**：which 指开始挣钱这件事，allows them to 后接动作。

Many young people are eager to start earning money as soon as possible, which allows them to support themselves and potentially contribute to their families.

, which allows + 人 + to do…

A flexible timetable reduces scheduling conflicts, which allows learners to attend regularly.

Furthermore, university graduates tend to have access to a wider range of job openings, often with higher salaries and better benefits compared to those with only a high school diploma.

  结构：… tend to have access to…

Larger libraries tend to have access to a wider range of learning resources.

> University is essential for some professions, whereas practical experience may be a more direct route into others.

:::

Some people favour vocational training, while others prefer university education. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

> Some people believe that studying at university or college is the best route to a successful career, while others believe that it is better to get a job straight after school. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
