> The **taxonomist** sometimes overlooks whole species **in favour of** those groups currently under study, while the ecologist often collects only a limited number of specimens of each species, thus reducing their value for taxonomic investigations.

**重点词块：** **taxonomist**、**in favour of**、**specimen**

:::

| **in favour of** | 选择……

* **第一研究方式：** `The taxonomist sometimes overlooks whole species in favour of those groups currently under study` in favour of 解释关注研究群组时可能忽略整个物种；currently under study 修饰 groups。
* **对照方式：** `while the ecologist often collects only a limited number of specimens of each species` while 对照生态学者的采样习惯；only 限制样本数。
* **结果：** `thus reducing their value for taxonomic investigations` thus reducing 表第二种有限采样造成的后果；their 指所收集的 specimens。

`while B` ..., `thus` + 动词-`ing`。 或 `This limited sampling reduces` ...。

> `〔分类学者〕 may overlook 〔对象〕, while 〔生态学者〕 often collect 〔有限样本〕, thus 〔后果〕.`

> Managers may overlook small delays, while customers notice every missed update, thus creating a gap in expectations.

> Teachers may focus on test scores, while students worry about confidence, thus missing part of the learning problem.

> The **taxonomist** sometimes overlooks whole species **in favour of** those groups currently under study, / while the ecologist often collects only a limited number of specimens of each species, / thus reducing their value for taxonomic investigations.

**可复用骨架：** `〔分类学者〕 may overlook 〔对象〕, while 〔生态学者〕 often collect 〔有限样本〕, thus 〔后果〕.`

> The historian sometimes focuses on a few famous leaders, while the social researcher collects stories from many ordinary citizens, thus offering a broader picture of change.
