> Psychologists have long held that a person's character cannot **undergo a transformation** in any meaningful way and that the key traits of personality are determined at a very young age.

**重点词块：** **undergo a transformation**、**in a meaningful way**、**trait**

:::

| --- | --- | --- |
| **undergo a transformation** | 经历转变 | change substantially |
| **in a meaningful way** | 以实质性方式 | significantly |

* **报告主干：** `Psychologists have long held` 现在完成时加 long 表“长期以来持有”，不自动说明观点正确。
* **第一观点：** `that a person's character cannot undergo a transformation in any meaningful way` 第一 that 从句陈述人格难以发生有意义转变。
* **第二观点：** `and that the key traits of personality are determined at a very young age` 第二 that 与第一 that 并列，共同作 held 的宾语；are determined 是被动。

谈长期持有的教育或工作理念，用“人 `have long believed/held that A and that B`”。

> `〔研究者〕 have long held that 〔观点一〕 and that 〔观点二〕.`

> Many educators have long held that practice matters and that useful feedback helps students improve.

> Some neighbours have long held that the park should stay open and that it belongs to the whole community.

> Psychologists have long held / that a person's character cannot **undergo a transformation** in any meaningful way and / that the key traits of personality are determined at a very young age.

**可复用骨架：** `〔研究者〕 have long held that 〔观点一〕 and that 〔观点二〕.`

> Some researchers have long argued that personality can change over time and that social experience plays a role.
