> Such material, even where it appears **comparatively trivial**, can **have a serious effect on** the company, supplier or customer if it falls into the wrong hands.

**重点词块：** **comparatively trivial**、**have a serious effect on**、**fall into the wrong hands**

:::

| **have a serious effect on** | 严重影响 | significantly affect |
| **fall into the wrong hands** | 落入不当之人手中 | be obtained by the wrong people |

* **主干：** `can have a serious effect on the company, supplier or customer` 谓语承接前面的 Such material：材料可能严重影响多方；can 表可能性，不是“有能力”。
* **让步插入：** `even where it appears comparatively trivial` 即使材料看起来相对无关紧要，也不改变主句判断。
* **条件：** `if it falls into the wrong hands` if 指风险出现的前提；it 回指 material，wrong hands 是“不该得到它的人”的比喻。

先抓 `material can have an effect`，再放回让步和条件。

`if` ...。

> `〔材料〕, even where 〔看似轻微〕, can 〔造成影响〕 if 〔落入错误的人手中〕.`

> Personal details, even where they appear harmless, can put customers at risk if shared publicly.

`if shared publicly` 是 `if they are shared publicly` 的省略；不是客户被公开分享。

`it falls` 的 `it` 回指材料，复数主语须改成 `they`。

> Old files, even where they seem unimportant, can expose private information if they reach the wrong person.

> Such material, / even where it appears **comparatively trivial**, / can **have a serious effect on** the company, / supplier or customer / if it falls into the wrong hands.

> Such information, even where it appears harmless, can put customers at risk if it reaches the wrong people.
